Charles Manson's Future Mother-In-Law, Shockingly, Disapproves
Natalie O'Neill at the New York Post reports on Charles Manson's future mother-in-law, who, "shockingly,' as the Post headline claims, does not approve of the marriage.
The mother of Charles Manson’s fiancée won’t attend the couple’s prison wedding — or buy the lovebirds a gift on their big day, she told The Post.
Melissa Burton, 47 — whose daughter, Afton Elaine Burton, 26, plans to marry the 80-year-old mass murderer — said the occasion doesn’t exactly call for flowers and fancy registries.
“It’s not that kind of a wedding . . . She knows how we feel about it. If I could choose a life for my daughter, I’d choose a normal one,” said Melissa Burton of Bunker Hill, Ill.
Manson and Afton, who goes by the name Star, are allowed up to 10 guests at the Corcoran State Prison wedding in California — but none of her relatives plans to attend, Melissa Burton said.

I am a strong opponent of the death penalty for a lot of reasons. However, just because I reserve the right to change my mind on anything and everything, I think I might have been able to embrace the death penalty for Charles Manson and his disciples. But then there is this: If the blushing bride and the demon sporting the swastika tattoo qualify, I suppose anyone in the State of California can quality for a marriage license, which probably says something awful about the state's judgment. And what lunatic will agree to perform the marriage? What the hell is wrong with that character?
ReplyDeleteAnd then there is this from the blushing bride's mother:
ReplyDelete“I know [Manson] has made lots of bad choices, but I don’t think he’s dangerous. The media has made him into more of a monster than he is,” she said.
Yeah, that's the problem. Manson is simply a victim of media hyperbole.
This suggests that the bride -- let's call her the acorn -- has not fallen far from the really screwed up tree. How sad it is that people believe Manson is a victim.
RT,
ReplyDeleteI'm for the death penalty for those who commit henious crimes. Manson qualifies, in my view.
I followed the Manson trial in the newspapers when I was a teenager and I read the great true crime book "Helter Skelter." I thought then that Manson was evil and a real creep.
But after reading Jeff Guinn's "Manson," I wanted his evil ass executed even more.
The idiot girl needs some serious help. I feel for her family.
Thanks for writing.
