Richard A. Zappile, a former Philadelphia Deputy Police Commissioner, has died. He was 70.

Note: I knew and liked Richard Zappile. I interviewed him several times when I was a crime reporter and columnist for the South Philly weekly newspapers. He was a hell of a guy and a hell of a cop.
