A while back I accompanied a friend as he drove through rural Pennsylvania.
He said, “Hey, look at that bunch of cows.”
“Not bunch,” I replied. “Herd.”
“Heard of what?” he asked.
“Herd of cows,’ I noted.
“Of course, I’ve heard of cows!” he said.
“No, no, the cow herd.” I tried to explain.
“I don’t care what the cow heard. I didn’t say anything wrong.”
I got out of the car and took a bus home.
